And the pop-punk winner is......
Forget the Sharks and the Jets, the Bloods and the Crips, A real turf war was waged at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center on Saturday-- one that was snotty rather than bloody, and fought with flashy guitars, pounding drums and dazzling pyrotechnics.
Fellow California superstars Blink 182 and Green Day vied for pop-punk supremacy on stage, with the edge going to Green Day.
Unlike the ever-so-immature Blink 182, Green Day refrained from poo-poo jokes and sappy high school sweetheart songs and kept its rollicking set rooted in true punk rock grit. Each member of the band poured his never ending energy into getting the crowd riled up and screaming punk chants of "Oi oi oi" as Green Day plowed through its many hits, including "basket case," "hitchin a ride," and "brainstew."
Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong struck his guitar violently and briskly throughout, while drummer Tre Cool tossed his sticks into the stage lights above, and bassist Mike Dirnt slapped at his instrument.
Blink 182 had a lot to perform up to as it closed the night. The coheadliners gave fans what they came for, catchy pop-punk songs such as "first date," "whats my age again," and "dammit."
Those with any sort of maturity level were caught up in the fun for a while before realizing they turned 13 a long time ago.
I'd be surprised if a quarter of the kids there, even knew what "oi" meant.

Goldfinger played a free show last night.
It's good to see so many people coming together and getting along, while positive energy is flowing.
Goldfinger played a good show, as they normally do. I enjoyed it, and tore it up in the pit.
I got drunk after the show.
My buddy ate a Twinkie out of Darrin's (their drummer) ass. Everyone said it was sick... I would have done it.

I was walking down the street, and I realized how fucked up youth is today. I saw 12 year old girls, wearing less clothing than hookers I use to see. I believe people can do whatever they want, but seriously, under 15 is too young to decide to wear that. Where are the fucking parents?! People wonder why there are people who rape children. Well, when you see kids looking like that, its hard to resist. This is the Jerry Springer age, and its disgraceful.
I finally made my way to a convenient store, which really wasn't very convenient at all. The prices were double the cost of normal grocery stores, and the selection was half it normally is. I proceeded to buy a bottle of water, and it cost $1.79. As I leave the store, I hear 2 black chicks arguing. I turn around as walking out the door, and see the one girl grab the other girl's hair and throw her into a shelf of cookies.
I don't remember life being this ruff when I was a youngster, maybe I was just blind.
